For our first Espresso Gathering of the New Year, we are returning to Robusta Café at 7pm, on Wednesday January the 23rd for an evening of great discussions/espresso/coffee/tea and decadent deserts. They are located at 160 Macdonnell Street (the intersection where Woolwich Street starts) and here is a link to their website: http://robusta-cafe.com
Robusta should have their fireplace lit for a cozy evening and if the Winter weather cooperates there may be interesting photographic opportunities for those of you who want to bring your cameras. As usual, we are continuing with our informal format of discussing anything and everything about photography while enjoying good espresso/coffee/tea and other treats. At this time of day, there is free parking in the East Parkade and the Neeve Street Parking Lot as well as street parking. The car wash parking lot should also be available after they close at 6pm. There is no Guelph Storm game that evening but there is an event at the River Run Centre. I am looking forward to seeing you there at 7:00pm on the 23rd of January. Gord Carothers
On December 12, 2018 our community once again came together to enjoy an evening food, laugher, and some friendly competition. We had a great night with over 35 members in attendance and over 150 photos submitted across 5 categories!

The Guelph Photographers Guild is pleased to host Rod Frketich, photo editor for the Waterloo Region Record, on Wednesday November 21, 2018! A little bit about our speaker and his presentation:
Presenter Rod Frketich photo editor of the Waterloo Region Record will talk about a ‘typical’ day for a newspaper photographer is like.
There really isn’t anything typical everyday—a newspaper photographer can expect anything from a hockey game, a business portrait to an accident, depending where the news takes them.
He will touch on assigning, shooting an assignment to editing.
Since graduating from the Loyalist college photojournalism program in 1991 Frketich has been a photographer at small weekly papers and dailies throughout Ontario. Later he switched to photo editing working at The Canadian Press, The Globe and Mail and The Record.
Come out and join us for this great talk on November 21!
