March GPG outing
Mark your calendars folks, there’s another photo outing coming up.
When: Saturday March 18 — 4 to 6 pm. This time-frame should allow for good late day light.
Where: more on that later
What: Street photography, ie: people in downtown Guelph. I believe this will be a first for the GPG, but with 40.9% of members indicating an interest in street photography, it should be a good turnout.
Cost: none.
Issues: We are looking for two volunteers to lead this, from the general membership – two people who know Guelph, and if possible are also familiar with Street Photography.
Anyone interested, please let me know asap. Breaking up into two groups is a good idea, meeting at two locations to wander about and shoot.
Back to the “where”. Once we have two leaders in place, they can decide where to meet, and we will get that information out.
It would be a good idea for members to RSVP if you want to attend, it gives us an idea of numbers, then we can split the group in two so that one leader is not overwhelmed.
For those not comfortable with street photography, the outing could also be used for architectural photography as well.
Gear: for street – any camera, a 35 or 50mm prime, a 24-70mm zoom, or a 35-105 mm zoom. Try to isolate people on a blurry background by using a low f-stop. Feel free to push that ISO, street can look great with grain. Tripods/monopods are allowed, but not reccomended, remember that sidewalks/corners are busy places, and tripods can cause costly accidents if your gear takes a tumble.
