2022 Grand Valley Image Battle Entrants – update

The Grand Valley Image Battle (GVIB) is an open competition held every fall with invited clubs in South-Western Ontario, including the Guelph Photographers Guild. This is a club competition, not an individual competition. The 2022 competition was hosted by the Brant Camera Club. Each club was limited to 20 submissions that hopefully included as many club members as possible. This year the GPG entered 20 images from 19 individuals. Entries were on a first come first served basis in an attempt to promote our less experienced members to participate in a friendly competition.

This year the Guelph Photographer’s Guild placed fifth out of seven clubs who entered, one place better than our last effort. The GRIPS, Halton and Brant clubs placed first, second and third respectively with cumulative scores of 484.5, 481.5 and 474.0 out of a possible 600. The Guild’s cumulative score for the 20 entries was 458.5.

The first four images below are in order of placement within the Guild with scores shown. Congratulations to Nancy Schmidt for obtaining the highest score within the Guild. Nancy was also in a three way tie for third highest score in the 2022 GVIB competition. Remaining images are in no set order, but all represented the Guild very well! Congratulations to all of the participants, and we look forward to continued improvement by the Guelph Photographer’s Guild in upcoming GVIB competitions!

International Landscape Photographer of the Year – Andrew Morse

Past Vice-President and active member Andrew Morse entered five images into the International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition in early 2022. I am honoured to announce that two of Andrew’s images made it into the Top 101 Landscape Images that will be included in the ILPOTY annual book.  Only four Canadians had submissions that made it into the Top 101.  With two successful entries out of a field of over 3800, Andrew’s achievement is truly remarkable! Congratulations Andrew!
